About the event

Marshaun Lambert:

Looking back at my past experiences, I have gone through various periods of self-improvement that have shaped me into the person I am today. I believe in continuous growth and learning, as there is always room for improvement. Transitioning from my teenage years to adulthood comes with new responsibilities and challenges, but I have faith that God has prepared me for this next chapter. Overcoming challenges from childhood to early adulthood has instilled gratitude and motivation within me. I attribute my diligence in academics and respectful behavior towards teachers to God's guidance, helping me succeed as a hardworking student. Playing basketball has been another significant aspect of my life, where I've used criticism as motivation to become a better player and person. Despite the ups and downs, the progress I've made has positively impacted my character. I am grateful for the opportunities God has provided, teaching me not to take anything for granted, whether it's volunteering, pursuing basketball, meeting new people, or spending time with family. My job at Wieden + Kennedy, which I started in April 2022, has exposed me to the inner workings of big companies, fostering personal growth and providing valuable life lessons. Reflecting on my journey helps me appreciate how far I've come and the pivotal moments that have shaped me.

I come from a background that values creating a caring and loving community, emphasizing treating others with respect and love, and offering help whenever possible. Making a positive impact in someone's life brings me joy, and I strive to become a leader within my community. Hard work, perseverance, and responsibility have been ingrained in me both on and off the basketball court. This commitment to excellence extends to academic success and fulfilling household responsibilities, instilling values that will help me integrate into the diversity of university life. As I embark on this new journey, I will draw upon these qualities to navigate challenges and contribute positively to the campus community.
